Brief

This course integrates general conversation classes with a formal public speaking training course through modification of the Toastmasters International Speech Training Program. It features low-threat conversation activities followed by a meeting-format speech-training program with multi-roles activity design, which aims to sharpen students' English ability as well as leadership development.

English conversation, public speaking, discussion, hosting programs, jobs hunting Advanced English: Listening and Speaking objective: to enhance students’ listening and speaking ability through intensive communicativie activities based on handouts and videos from different sources. Teaching material: handouts, videos, ect. No book is needed. Teaching methods: The whole-language approach will be implimented in this course divided into three parts: Part I.: Viewing videos followed by intensive interactions among students. Part II: Conducting Modified International Toastmaster Program Part III: Flea Market and Jobs Hunting Since language is learned through interaction, students are highly expected to participate in a variety of activities to enhance speaking confidence as well as competence. Evaluation: Class participation /performance 60% Mid-term 15% Final 15% E-mail feedbacks 10%
